Frequently Asked Questions

Not unless the card specifically states that it can be cast during a different time other than the Approach Phase. For example, the Lore Keeper Spells Transmute and Forbidden Knowledge both refer to them being cast on  the Clean Up Phase.

Magic Power, Bleed, and all other damage boosting effects (such as the Defiant's Noxious Secretions) happen BEFORE Resistances are calculated.

No. Poison is not a Player controlled effect (even if you were the one to Poison the Entity), effects like Restless or the Defiant's Killing Machine Ability require the Player to deal the damage from an effect they control to count it as a kill.

Yes! Spells like Imbue, Bone Fragment and Paroxysm say Heal/Deal Damage, which means they are influenced by Magic Power.

Yes. Whatever space you end your Movement Phase dictates what type of Encounter you would have, it is NOT optional. However if for whatever reason you would not want to take an Encounter that turn you can end your Movement on a White Lake space.

While you are in combat, regardless of Priority.

No. The Wild ability text (including stat changes) are only added to Wild Anatomy if you activated its effect.

It's Encounter ability fires with no targets, meaning you only have to fight them. Lucky you!

No. Resistances are your Armour and Repression values, the amount of damage reduced from Clash and Magical Damage respectively. Damage Prevention is generated separately from various card effects, like the Criminal's Slip Tumble Reave. If an effect would prevent Resistances, Damage Prevention may still occur, and vice versa.

No. Drawing a loot card specifically refers to taking the top card of the Loot deck and adding it to your bag. Taking an Item from another Player does not come from the Loot deck, and Items purchased from shops are REVEALED from the top of the deck, then paid for and added to your bag.

Anytime a card would deal damage to its controller (ie self damage) counts as Void Damage, meaning it is not affected by Spell Power or Repression/Armour values.

No. If the Spell you are targeting has Snap, then the Simulacrum copy with have Snap as well.

Yes and no. If an effect causes you to discard something you don't have (for example the Charity Dungeon room requires you to discard ALL of your Essence when you don't have any), that effect can still resolve. However if a COST would require you to discard something as part of it's resolution (for example the Criminal Event Bushwacked!), that effect cannot resolve as it's condition was not met.

If your Champion Awakens from Creature kills, they Awaken as soon as the killing blow is dealt. Loot cards are drawn at the end of combat if you survived (one Loot card per Creature).

Magic Power is not added to the (X) cost, it is added to the effect of either "damage" or "heal". Other effects attributed by the X (for example Essence from Paroxysm or Bleed from Bone Fragments) are not calculated

Yes! As long as the cost is paid, the effect resolves before you die. For example the Lore Keeper is fighting the Criminal. They have 5HP left. They cast Paroxysm with the X value equal to 5, which would kill them. The damage from Paroxysm kills the Criminal as well. Both Champions Awaken.

In this unlikely event, you declare your Intent to each Champion in the order of your choosing. For each Hostile Intent declared resolve combat separately in the order of your choosing.

Whenever one side of a combat Encounter cannot kill the other, they are  immediately killed. If neither side can damage the other, both sides are killed.
